Jane Allen describes Wandsworth Libraries and Museum's priorities

We reviewed our service against the Inspiring Learning for All checklist and highlighted areas where we needed to do more work to achieve the level of learning provision suggested.

Our particular priorities included:

  • Providing additional staff training in reach-out activities
  • Using more structured methods of record-keeping to assess success
  • Sharing skills to a greater extent/spending less time re-inventing the wheel
  • Reviewing induction training to ensure that we place support for learning at the core of staff training
  • Developing methods to assess partnerships

We have added these priorities to staff targets, the annual review of the service and annual action plans. We understand that there are no quick wins, but our Library Service is gradually developing with the aim of embedding a different approach to learning
